Braintree Electric Forecourt® is powered by clean, renewable, net zero carbon energy.

The design of the Electric Forecourt ® integrates solar panels into its architecture, and these create energy to power our retail centre. The solar canopy generates enough electricity in a year to drive an electric vehicle 800,000 miles. However, this is not enough energy to power all the onsite chargers. So how do we achieve net zero energy?

We pump the exact amount of power used at the forecourt back into the National Grid with the energy we generate at our nearby Clayhill Solar Farm, which is about 44 miles from the Braintree site. This way, the ‘balance’ of the electricity used at Braintree comes from a renewable, sustainable source achieving net zero carbon energy. This is good for the planet and good for us, that is why we call it ‘planet friendly energy’.
