HOW DOES PAYMENT FOR CHARGING WORK?

Our contactless payment technology offers customers a seamless charging experience across the GRIDSERVE network. No need to fret about apps or membership!

Payment for charging can be made via a contactless bank card or by Apple Pay, Samsung Pay or Google Pay. We will be releasing a membership card – also called an RFID card - very soon with preferrable charging rates and many more rewarding offers, but you won’t ever have to become a member to use our charging network. Contactless will always remain an option, so charging is easy and accessible to all.

In order to facilitate contactless payment, we temporarily reserve a fee from your bank account of £1 – or £25 at Rugby MOTO services. This process makes sure you have funds available to pay for charging.

Unlike other networks that debit the pre-authorisation fees and then refund them – a process that can take many days to complete, the authentication system we have designed temporarily reserves the fee.

Once the charge session is complete, the pre-authorisation fee is released within seconds, and you will only be charged for the kWh used.

On rare occasions, dependant on your bank and other factors beyond our control, the holding fee may take a couple of days to show on your account.

We recommend you view your transactions using a laptop rather than your mobile app, as the returned holding fee will likely appear more quickly.
